BURY hero Lenny Johnrose faces an anxious wait to discover the severity of a hamstring injury that marred his long-awaited return to Gigg Lane.

Johnrose hobbled through the closing minutes of the Shakers' 2-1 victory over Macclesfield and is a doubtful starter for Tuesday's trip to Lincoln.

However, `Lungs', as he's affectionately known, is just delighted to be playing again for the Shakers.

And it was Karl Munroe's reckless foul on the same player that led to the free-kick from which Danny Swailes eventually scored the winning goal for the Shakers.

"I'm more than happy to be back here. I'm desperate to play football and I feel I have an awful lot of football left in me. It's a great place to come back to," said Johnrose.

Andy Preece's own popularity won't have been harmed by this victory or his own performance.

The player-boss scored Bury's first goal and drilled in the free-kick from which Swailes scored six minutes from time.

The Silkmen barely deserved to get anything from the match for some abject defending.

Indeed, angry manager David Moss didn't hold back at the end of the game, describing the passage of play that led to Bury's winner as "pathetic, amateurish and naïve.

"We also made Andy Preece look as good as any striker in this division and he shouldn't have been allowed to dictate the game like he did.''
