KASPER Schmeichel is ready to help lift Bury off the bottom of League Two.

The Shakers are without a league win this season but have been boosted by the return of Manchester City keeper Schmeichel for a second loan spell and by the Carling Cup triumph over Sunderland.

Bury meet Grimsby at home and Schmeichel said: "I like being at Gigg Lane. I love the place and the fans and I would never have closed the door on the chance to come back.

"I knew that Bury boss Chris Casper had been after me for a while.

"I've also had a few offers from other clubs, but the right move didn't come up.

"But when Bury came back for me, I was delighted."
