DEFENDER Colin Woodthorpe is a major doubt for tonight's home clash with Chester City having suffered concussion in Bury's League Two opener at the weekend.
The 37-year-old had six stitches in a head wound in the 2-1 defeat at MK Dons on Saturday, while both strikers Matthew Tipton and Tom Youngs are facing late fitness tests for groin strains.
And the match will have extra spice as Chris Casper's side see the return of their former boss Graham Barrow, now assistant manager with City. Former Shakers physio Joe Hinnigan also makes a return to Gigg Lane.
Meanwhile, Bury director Iain Mills has issued a statement apologising to MK Dons for racist chants from Bury supporters during Saturday's match.
"On behalf of Bury Football Club I have to apologies to the black players within the MK Dons team because of the chanting and racist comments coming from a section of the Bury supporters," said Mills.
"This is not something we want to see at any football match."

I think this whole MK thing has been blown way out of proportion. A very small storm in a small teacup. I cannot condone racism in any shape or form and the culprits (the small gang involved) should accept whatever punishment is due to them. If you believed what you read, especially on 606 webpage, you'd think that hundreds of Bury fans invaded the pitch and went on the rampage. What happened is way off what I have seen in the past and of little importance in the wider arena. I think MK should accept that several of their players and their supporters were out of order in barracking the official for stopping play when clearly woodthorpe had suffered a serious head injury. Perhaps they should look at things from our point of view, what would they have said had it been one of their players?
