BURY have failed to sign Morecambe's Garry Thompson because the winger refused to move from his Lake District home.
One of the conditions of a two-year deal offered by the Shakers was that 25-year-old Thompson relocate closer to Bury.
Contracts were drawn up, but then Thompson decided to stay with Sammy McIlroy's side and signed an extension with Morecambe.
"The deal was finalised and I got the impression that the lad wanted to move to Bury," said disappointed Bury boss Chris Casper.
"But he has made this decision and I have to respect that. I'm disappointed with the player's lack of ambition but it's something that we have to respect and we will move on to new targets."
But there was some good news for Casper, with Matthew Tipton, Nicky Adams and Marc Pugh all signing on for another 12 months at Gigg Lane.
