IT would take a wicked combination of results to send Bury down tomorrow but skipper Dave Challinor is leaving nothing to chance.

The Shakers still need a point from their last game at Notts County to make certain of League Two football next season after drawing against Mansfield last Saturday.

Challinor said: "There are so many permutations, and you would say that all the other teams can't win. But we said that Torquay wouldn't win three on the bounce, especially when they went to Carlisle.

"It happened and we know what we have to do. We are in a good position and we've lost one game in 10. That's decent form.

"We've probably been guilty of drawing too many games, but to be fair, we've had some good results away from home and we've played better football.

"We will go to Meadow Lane knowing we played well there last season and won. We know what to expect and it's in our hands."

Boss Chris Casper is sure they can avoid the trapdoor to the Conference.

He said: "Bury is a proud town and it's important for everyone to make sure we have a league club next season.

"Words struggle to describe how important it is to stay up.

"But we're in the best position out of all the clubs down there.

"I'm not interested in dealing with relegation dogfights and hopefully well be up the other end of the table next year."
