BURY'S last home game of the season could have been their final Gigg Lane fixture as a league club.
The Shakers failed to gain the win that would have clinched survival in their goalless draw with Mansfield and go to Notts County on Saturday needing a point to be absolutely sure of avoiding the drop.
But skipper Dave Challinor is hopeful that Bury can achieve their target.
"Away from home we've had some good results recently and played some of our best football," he said.
"It would have been nice to finish off at home with a win but there was a lot on the game. We had some chances in the second half but we didn't get a break in front of goal."
Again the pitch didn't help Bury's cause though it doesn't seem to hamper FC United.
Matthew Tipton might have had a hat-trick while substitute Tom Youngs was denied by a superb block by former City youngster Jonathan D'Laryea.
Current young Blue Kasper Schmeichel also made two vital interventions of his own, saving once in each half from Richie Barker, to earn Bury their vital point.
Manager Chris Casper said: "It will take a freak set of results for us to go down.
"We've given ourselves a heck of a chance and you look at the Darlington result and see how important it was. A 0-0 draw probably sums up our season but I will take a 0-0 draw next weekend."
Do you think Bury will survive? Have your say.

You're doing us (FC) no favours. Not my understanding of what revolutions are about - more like the dog-eat-dog G14 mentality.
I hope Bury supporters put this down to the rantings of a minority of one.
And you'll give Tommy satisfaction - unforgiveable. And don't you want to be the only team in Manchester that's not in debt?
Good luck to Bury.
