ANDY Preece has the utmost respect for opposite rival Sam Allardyce but it won't prevent him trying to mastermind a shock win over his former mentor's team.

Preece was a player under the Wanderers chief in their days at Blackpool and hasn't forgotten the help Allardyce gave.

"Like all the managers I have played under, he has had an influence on my own managerial style," says the Shakers chief.

"He really brought the best out of me after I made a dodgy start at Blackpool. We were unlucky not to get promoted that year and Sam should never have been sacked because he was doing a great job.

"He's done a great job at Bolton over the past few years to not only get them in the Premiership but to keep them there."

Defender Jamie Stuart should return to Bury's starting line-up after missing the game at Wrexham to be at the birth of daughter, Tilly. And Preece isn't expected to make too many changes.

David Borley (chest infection) and Gareth Seddon (calf) won't play due to injury.

"The lads have just been focusing on the league games, there has not really been a mention of the draw since the day that it was made," insists Preece.

"It is a big night for Wanderers as well as us so I'm sure they will be taking the game seriously. But it doesn't bother me what team they put out because it will be a terrific game.

Matt Barrass, whose grandfather Malcolm played over 350 times for the Trotters, says: "If we play and pass like we can do then we will be more than a match for them."
