SIMON Whaley has joined Preston North End in a deal that will net the Shakers £300,000.

Whaley only left when he was sure that Bury would be adequately compensated, report the club's website.

Whaley, who will link up again with David Nugent, made 52 appearances for the Shakers and scored 11 goals.

Good financially for the shakers but no help in team building.

what a refreshing change to see that whaley would only leave bury if they were well compensated.that is the reason he never moved to sheff wed cos they were not prepared to fully compensate bury.lots of young players would have jumped ship to join wednesday and the double or triple wages.he joined preston cos they compensated bury with his true value.so,good luck to whaley and his new club preston.
