Bury hotseat attracting interest

SPECULATION is mounting over who will become the next Bury boss in the wake of Graham Barrow's departure.

Although the Shakers' board are giving little away, three former players - Paul Farrell, Paul Hilton and Leighton James - are in the frame.

Former Stockport and Northern Ireland boss Sammy McIlroy is also a possiblity, but Stan Ternent has ruled himself out of the running.

Other names in the mix, according to the Bury Times, are Steve Burr, who has experience with Northwich Victoria and former Shaker Ronnie Jepson.

jimmy mcilroy would be my choice of manager for bury as he has the experience at top level and also has played for bury other than that a young manager with passion for the game

Sammy Mac would be my ideal choice but I wouldn't grumble at getting stan back or even rocket ronnie.

Getting rid of Andy Preece was a massive mistake that backfired. Appointing Graham Barrow was never going to fill Preecey's boots on the bench. The board of BFC must get it right this time. A young up and coming manager or a top NW Non League Manager would fulfill that criteria.

It was a shame that Graham Barrow didn't work, but it was going to never work, he had no idea how to manage the team it was always his No 2's who run the team. Hopefully his replacement will keep this GREAT CLUB going a gets the backing of the fans

Rocket Ronnie would be my ideal replacement. Hes worked under Stan and has decent coaching experience. He wouldnt put up with slacking which seems to be a problem at the moment. Sammy Mac doesnt have the best record and think it would be a gamble which we cannot afford

Sammy Mac isn't right for the job. what has he achieved? let's not rush into something we will later regret.Wait and see who else applies.

I'm happy that some heavyweight candidates have applied for the job, none more so than John Beck who has a proven track record with no money. Hope he gets it.

john beck has been out off the game to long he would be rubbish. somebody like carlton palmer or ian atkins who know this division would be much better for us to pick

I totally agree with robshaker, John Beck is the man to fight us out of this tight spot. His no nonsence approach and clinical attitude is what this club needs. We're not the only ones, on the unofficial Bury site the online poll shows that John Beck is more than twice as popular as any other candidate. I hope the board sees sense.

John Beck is the only man for the job and I am glad to see others think the same. Palmer failed at both Mansfield and Stockport, Atkins was a disaster at Bristol Rovers.

He is the only man with a history of achievement in the list of candidates for the job, and ever Bury fan should be badgering the board to get them to appoint him. He might cost a bit more than some of the others, but what price proper football over relegation?

One win under Casper shouldn't make the job his.
Really hope we appoint someone soon.
Keith Curle would do ok as well.

Most of the comments here have been posted by Rochdale fans panicking about the fact that we'll soon be above them. As for Beck, do me a favour! Dave the Badger would do a better job.
