The Stockport defender becomes Graham Barrow's eighth pre-season capture after impressing in recent friendlies against Bradford and Preston.
Hardiker now joins other County departees Dave Challinor, Colin Woodthorpe and Stuart Barlow.
He started his soccer education with Bury's Centre of Excellence Under-15 side, moved to Morecambe and then was transferred to Edgley Park for £150,000.
The highlight of his Hatters career was scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Manchester City in March, 2002.
He will now feature in Bury's latest friendly on Friday against Northwich Victoria.
