In a hectic week at Gigg Lane, Sedgemore has arrived on a one-year contract from lowly Shrewsbury.
"The gaffer has called me `Mr Versatile'," said the former Northwich and Hereford player.
"It means I can get used and abused from time to time.
"I've come in primarily as a midfielder, but I can play centre-half.
"I played for the England Non-League set-up as a centre-half. I've played right-back, left-back and wide right in midfield.
"It's nice to have that in your squad, but if I can nail down a place and keep the same position as consistently as possible, then that's what I am looking to do.
"Believe it or not, I started my career as a goalkeeper at Wolves at the age of 14, so if the keeper gets sent off and we need back up, call for me.
"I've had a good summer and been away to refresh myself.
"Now, I've signed I can get back to action and I'm looking forward to it.
"I know that there is a decent squad here and the gaffer has mentioned a few more signings coming in before we start.
"It's just a matter of getting my head down and working as hard as possible now."
