MAN-of-the-match Simon Whaley rescued a precious point for the Shakers with a contender for Bury's goal of the season.

Whaley's first of the campaign came in the 78th minute with Rovers hanging on to a 30th minute opener from Craig Disley.

Teed-up by Dave Flitcroft, the young midfielder's 30 yard drive flew past Kevin Miller into the top corner.

Miller had been Rovers' hero until then making vital saves from Dwayne Mattis and Chris Porter twice. But he could do nothing to deny Whaley as Graham Barrow's side took another step towards safety with their fourth point out of a possible six.

However, Kidderminster's away win at Notts County and Rushden's victory against Northampton mean Bury are not yet out of the woods.

Keeper Glynn Garner had one of his easiest afternoons of the season as Rovers rarely threatened to add to their advantage.

Will Bury survive? Have your say.
