Bury

Colchester 4 Bury 1

Bury's winning run came to a shuddering halt as they were thrashed at Colchester United.

The Shakers struggled to get a foothold on the game and found themselves 3-0 down at half-time.

Bury were behind after less than two minutes when Colchester veteran Karl Duguid’s low shot deflected in off left-back Joe Skarz.

Goalkeeper Cameron Belford denied Anthony Wordsworth and Duguid missed a good chance, before Bury fell further behind in the 19th minute when Ian Henderson superbly nodded in Wordsworth’s cross at the far post.

Michael Jones was denied by Colchester keeper Ben Williams’ fine save but Bury fell further behind on the half hour when Duguid calmly slotted in from Wordsworth’s assist.

Williams denied Bury substitute David Worrall but Lloyd James’ stunning 30-yard free-kick midway through the second half made it four and substitute Lenell John-Lewis’s final-minute goal was only a consolation.

What a truly awful performance from the shakers let's hope that this is merely a one off performance and that Richie can get to grips with the offending players.Firstly Efe Sodje is not up to league 1 standard and other managers know this. They also know that we hardly ever change our defence unless there are injuries which necessitate it.I think Bury fc have done pretty well overall this season given their sluggish start. This is not the form that we want to bring in to the game against our old foes Scunthorpe United.I'm hoping that there will be a change of manager there by the time we have to play them. Our players have had 2 weeks off yet this performance shows how tired and not switched on they were to have conceeded a goal after 2 minutes.
