FORMER Bury striker Gareth Seddon has been forced to retire after being diagnosed with a degenerative medical condition.

Seddon is suffering from spondyloarthropathy, a reactive arthritis which attacks the joints.

The problem blighted his career at Gigg Lane and his subsequent move last summer to Rushden and Diamonds.

"It's a huge disappointment but I may be able to play at semi pro level where the training is less intense," said Seddon.
