Chris Porter and Terry Dunfield netted in the first half and the Shakers should have been out of sight before the Quakers hit a late consolation.
Clyde Wijnhard scored a 25 yard screamer to give the home side hope of a shock draw. But the visitors held on and with two home games coming up against Boston and Rushden, they would hope to challenge for a play-off place in seven days time.
Porter converted a 36th minute Brian Barry-Murphy corner and two minutes later Dunfield scored his first goal of the season after unselfish play by David Nugent.
Bury's top scorer could quite easily have finished with two hattricks but instead limped out of the game with a leg injury that makes him doubtful for Tuesday's home match with Boston. Tweet
