BURY'S winless run goes on after debut boy Michael Rankine snatched a last minute winner for new League Two leaders Scunthorpe.

It's three matches without a victory for the Shakers after going fourth in the table at the end of last month.

Rankine, who netted against Ashton United in midweek, came on as a 75th minute substitute.

And he was in the right place at the right time after Peter Beagrie's free kick was headed on by Andy Crosby.

However, Bury players were furious referee Andy Penn had given the free kick in the first place.

Leading scorer David Nugent should have taken his tally to seven in the 57th minute. But he delayed his shot and Paul Musselwhite was quickly off his line to smother the attempt.

The Shakers dominated the second half but for the second successive home match failed to break down an imposing visiting defence. Tweet
