Bury were victims of a Lincoln City smash and grab raid at Gigg Lane, bringing to an end their three match unbeaten run.

The Shakers failed to capitalise on a promising start and were undone by a goal at the end of the first half.

And though they dominated possession in the second 45 minutes, Graham Barrow's team failed to carve out a decent chance.

They even forced a total of 14 corners against one in reply but still Lincoln's defence didn't crack.

Chance

Bury's best chance actually came inside the first minute when David Nugent created a shooting opportunity but Alan Marriott tipped away his effort.

Lee Unsworth forced Marriott into another save after 35 minutes but chances were few and far between.

Lincoln also had their moments and Glynn Garner had to be alert to keep out Simon Yeo's shot. Jamie McCombe headed narrowly over after 37 minutes before Matt Bloomer broke the deadlock.

Dave Challinor could only help on a Lincoln free kick and Bloomer took his chance at the far post.

Yeo should have doubled Lincoln's tally after 56 minutes but even with that let off the Shakers couldn't profit.
