Bury step up promotion assault

Bury players are put through their paces
Bury's assault on the League Two play-offs took on new meaning this week.

'Sergeant Major' Alan Knill took his squad to the Holcombe Brook Army Training Centre in preparation for Saturday's vital game at Lincoln City.

"We've tried paint balling and go-karting so we wanted to do something different," explained Knill, whose "bad knee" ensured he didn't join in.

"We wanted to take them out of their comfort zone.

"We'd spoken about going to Holcombe Brook earlier in the season and it's something we will all look at doing for pre-season this year.

"The boys just thought they were coming in for their normal training session.

"So there were a few worried looks when we told them what was happening.

"But, I've got to say, they all enjoyed themselves, particularly Ryan Cresswell. He likes to think of himself as Rambo."

Knill's troops were put through their paces in a number of battlefield exercises by Army physical training staff.
