Knill: Shakers were excellent

Bury boss Alan Knill reckoned Bury underlined their promotion credentials afer they came from a goal dawn to draw with in form Port Vale.

Efe Sodje's late equaliser claimed a well-earned point for the Shakers, who moved a step closer to securing their play-off berth for a second consecutive season.

AndĀ Knill was delighted with the manner in which his side reacted to falling behind to a contentious first-half penalty from Vale captain Marc Richards.

"Coming back from 1-0 is a great save for us - the players showed a lot of determination and endeavour and I thought we deserved to get something out of the game," said the relieved manager.

"Vale are the form team in the league but we were excellent and showed why we've been up at the top all season."

BURY: Belford 7, Scott 7, Buchanan 6, Cresswell 7, Sodje 8, Worrall 6 (Poole, 73), Dawson 7, Barry-Murphy 8, Jones 8, Lowe 6 (Carlton, 89), Morrell 6 (Bishop, 66, 5).
