BURY boss Graham Barrow has pulled off a major coup by persuading Dave Challinor to return to Gigg Lane.

Challinor, whose contract was paid up by Stockport County earlier this week, has accepted a one-year deal with the Shakers, with the option of a 12-month extension.

Former Tranmere Rovers star Challinor played a major part in guiding Bury to safety last season during a three-month loan spell.

However, Bury feared the big defender's wage demands would scupper a permanent move.
