BURY fear that their star striker Andy Bishop faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a groin problem.

The lethal marksman, who has been Bury's leading goal scorer for the last three seasons, underwent a scan after missing Saturday's 0-0 friendly with Oldham.

Bury manager Alan Knill said: "We don't want to be starting the season without him."
