The Shakers' top scorer has been the subject of transfer speculation this month as he is out of contract in the summer and yet to sign the new deal on offer at Gigg Lane.
The 26-year-old has been linked with Barnsley, Norwich, Huddersfield and Peterborough yet shrugged off the transfer talk to put in an excellent performance in the 1-0 win over Barnet last week.
However, Bishop left his shooting boots at home as Bury drew 0-0 at Exeter, although Knill insists the former York hitman is still committed to the cause.
"He had four chances in the first half and you expect him to take two of those but it just didn't work for him," said Knill.
"But there have been many games where he has been a hero - that's the life of a striker.
"If he keeps getting in there you know eventually he'll put the ball in the back of the net.
"I can't answer whether it is affecting him only Andy can do that - but his work ethic has been good though."
