Bury

Tyler's just glad to play!

MARK Tyler is fully committed to Bury's promotion push after being stuck at home each Saturday for most of the last year.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper arrived on loan from Peterborough last week and made a solid debut in Saturday's 1-0 win over Barnet - his first game in just over 12 months.

Tyler (pictured) is vastly experienced having made 482 appearances for the Posh since making his debut in September 1994.

But the signing of England call-up Joe Lewis last January has forced Tyler onto the sidelines.

"I went on loan to Hull and then Watford but didn't play a game," he said. "I've been in and out, in and out, so now all I want to do is play football.

"I've pounded my body for over 10 years previously, playing week-in, week-out, so it was nice to have a rest.

"But at the end of the day, being out there is better than sitting at home watching Sky Sports News with a cup of coffee!"

Tyler has joined the Shakers on a one-month loan deal to cover Wayne Brown's thigh injury and will remain in goal for Saturday's trip to Exeter.

"We've got some good games coming up and everyone's geared up for staying in the promotion picture for the last three or four months of the season."
