BURY kept up their excellent away record with a hard earned point at Moss Rose.

The Shakers have lost just once in 10 games on their travels this season, but the draw was also welcome for Macc who had to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men after the dismissal of defender Matthew Flynn.

All the goal action was packed into an explosive opening six minutes. Macc struck first, big striker Martin Gritton on hand to nod home when Simon Yeo’s header came back off the bar after four minutes.

The Bury response was instantaneous, Stephen Dawson skating clear at the frosty, sun-shaded Star Lane End and fired in a shot low inside Jonny Brain’s post.

The rest of the half was even but Macc came out firing after the break and Brown was forced to save with his legs after Yeo burst clear of the defence.

Yeo was replaced by Francis Green and the sub almost masterminded a Macc victory as his back heel played in Terry Dunfield who appeared to be tripped as he drew back his left back to shoot.

Flynn’s dismissal followed shortly afterward for two unfortunate yellow cards. The first came after some pushing and shoving with Bury defender Paul Scott as they both awaited a corner and his second for a clumsy challenge on David Buchanan on the frosty surface.

His dismissal tempted Bury out of their shell for the last 15 minutes and Andy Morrell almost grabbed an unlikely win with a shot which forced a terrific diving save from Brain.
