Knill eyes cup comeback

DISAPPOINTED: Alan Knill
BURY boss Alan Knill is determined to avoid another cup exit against Gillingham at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy may be a much maligned competition but Knill was still "gutted" after the 1-0 defeat at Darlington on Tuesday.

"It was a dull, boring game," Knill said. "There was no-one here, no atmosphere, and I thought there was only going to be one goal in it.

"Unfortunately Darlington took their chance and we didn't take ours, so ultimately they're through and we're not.

"I'm bitterly disappointed I thought it was a good opportunity for us to go through. When I look back I'll probably take something from it, but all I can see is a loss when I expected us to win.

“I want to win every game. To me, I dont care if it’s this competition, the league, the FA Cup or the Carling Cup, I just see a loss. That’s the thing that drives me.”

Knill added: "Gillingham will be a tough test but we know that everybody in League Two is capable of beating everybody on their day."
