The former Blackpool striker made his debut for the Shakers when he came off the bench in Tuesday's Carling Cup defeat by Burnley after signing a two-year deal.
But Andy Bishop, who got the winner on the opening day of the season has recovered from a slight thigh strain and is expected to partner Glynn Hurst away at Chesterfield.
Bury boss Alan Knill said: "Morrell has trained every day since the start of pre-season but he's not played any games so we'll introduce him gradually and he'll probably play for the reserves on Wednesday.
"Chesterfield got a good win last week and lost 2-0 in midweek despite playing well - just like us - so I think this will be a pretty even game.
"They've invested heavily over the summer so they're one of the favourites. Our away record was good last season and I fancy us to do the same again this year."
Efe Sodje will remain in defence despite breaking a finger against Brentford and Steve Haslam is Bury's only definite absentee as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Key opponent: Jack Lester - scored two in the Spireites first league game and is still a dangerous performer.
