The Championship side will make the short trip across Lancashire to face a buoyant Bury following the Shakers' opening-day win over Brentford.
"It's great to get a good start, all the lads are buzzing now and we've just got to kick on from here," said Jones.
"We're facing better opposition but we're going into it with confidence so hopefully we can give them a good game. We played a few Championship teams in pre-season and certainly weren't embarrassed so I think we can compete against Burnley."
Bury boss Alan Knill has likened Jones to former Bury favourite Nicky Adams, who was lured to Leicester, and Jones said: "It's a tough act to follow. I've heard he was a good player, but I'm here to do well too.
"Hopefully I can bring a few goals but mainly assists, that's what the wingers are there for, to supply Bish and Hursty.
"The gaffer's asked me to cut inside as well and I love getting involved."
How do you think Jones did on his debut, and what is your prediction for tonight's game? Have your say.
