BURY suffered their first defeat of pre-season at Gigg Lane against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Championship side took the lead when Leon Clarke scored after 54 minutes and the same player struck again on the hour to settle the result.

Andy Bishop and Brian Barry-Murphy went closest for the Shakers but there was to be no breakthrough for the home side.
