New boss Alan Knill has moved swiftly to bolster his defence, and pending Football League approval the loan should start on Friday.
The 35-year-old, instantly recognisable because of his bandanna, has previously had spells at Macclesfield and Crewe.
Meanwhile, Knill praised his side for showing battling qualities in the 2-2 draw with Wycombe on Tuesday.
He said: "At least the lads showed they are not setlling for where they are in the league.
"They want the crowd to cheer them off at the end, not jeer them off like some people did at half time."
