The Shakers were hammered 5-1 at home by League Two leaders MK Dons, leaving them two points off the relegation places.
And former Stockport player Hurst sees tonight's derby at Gigg Lane as the ideal time to start putting thing right.
Hurst said: "I always try to take a positive out of anything and we have to take the hurt from the MK Dons game, learn from it and take it out on Stockport.
"That's the next hurdle and we have to be in the right frame of mind.
"When kick-off time comes we will use that hurt and feeling to spur ourselves on.
"It would help if we had a few more experienced players to calm the situation."
The contrast between Bury and Stockport couldn't be greater. The Shakers haven't won in the league since mid-November, whereas County have won five of their last six games and are unbeaten in League Two in 2008.
But County boss Jim Gannon won't be taking anything for granted.
He said: "I was at Bury's game against Norwich in the FA Cup and they put in a really spirited performance
"They know they need to add to the squad and they know they can't rely on the same players lifting it.
"But I'm sure they're going to put in a really dogged performance against us.
"It won't be easy and we need to improve our standards from Saturday's game at Dagenham.
"It's another tough game away from home and it would be nice if we get a good backing from the fans.
"It's at this stage of the season that they need that support."
County are again likely to bewithout midfielder Paul Turnbull.
