BURY caretaker boss Chris Brass believes the Shakers need new faces to keep pace with other relegation-threatened clubs.

But Brass is also determined to hold on to his better players to help in the battle at the bottom of League Two.

"Teams around us are getting personnel in and we need the extra bodies," said Brass.

"If we are in a position to get somebody, then hopefully we can sit down, sort it out and crack on with whatever is best to take us forward.

"Decisions on players leaving us are the kind of decisions that the club has to make.

"Now might not be the right time to lose your best players. You have to do what is right for the long term future of Bury and if that means getting rid of players, I don't agree."

Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Grimsby means the Shakers have taken just two points from their last 10 league games.

"We need results, people have lost their jobs because this a results-based industry," added Brass.

"Performance wise, we have given four very good performances, but sadly we've only picked up two decent results out of those four games."
