BURY, inspired by their dramatic FA Cup victory over Norwich City on Tuesday, aim to end their dismal run in the league when they take on Stockport County at Gigg Lane.

Andy Bishop, who scored in the 2-1 win, said: "All that matters is that we get back to winning ways in the league.

"I'm not even thinking about the next round of the FA Cup. We have to start winning games.

"The Cup success was for Chris Casper, I owe him a lot. He's done a lot of work with me and I have nothing but total respect for him."

County boss Jim Gannon is expecting a revitalised Bury to test his charges as they endeavour to climb further up the table.

With Chris Brass installed as caretaker manager following Casper's departure at the start of the week, and that Cup triumph, a trip to face the Shakers looks a very different proposition from a week ago.

Atmosphere

"Bury is not going to be an easy game," said Gannon, whose side will be looking for a fifth straight league success.

"They'll be buoyed by that win over Norwich. The one thing that jumped out was the tremendous atmosphere against Norwich.

"It was as if prior to that game the town had gone dead, but on Tuesday it turned out and was in great voice. With our fans going there and that with that kind of atmosphere I think it will be a cracking game."

Gannon believes Brass will have the backing of a squad determined to make up for recent failings.

"Bury seized upon Norwich being below par and it was a really spirited, motivated performance, a great credit to Chris and all the players for putting in that kind of effort," he added.

"Perhaps they took a bit of responsibility for what had gone on rather than just blaming the manager."
