Shakers boss Chris Casper has pledged to give the much maligned competition full respect, especially with a £5,000 fine handed out to any club fielding a perceived weakened side.
He may as well make the most of Bullock's talents for the initial month he's at Gigg Lane.
The on-loan midfielder set up both Bury's goals for Andy Mangan and Nicky Adams in the first 12 minutes.
And he should have had a hat-trick of assists. However, a poor finish by substitute Glynn Hurst failed to lower the blood pressure on the Bury bench in the latter stages of a pulsating contest.
For his own part Bullock is just delighted to be playing.
"It's a good changing room with a good bunch of lads," said the Hartlepool outcast.
"You can feel they want to do well for each other. It's professional here from the manager down. I was on loan at Mansfield before I came to Bury and that was a lot different.
"There wasn't the same buzz about the place though at least it gave me a chance to get fit.
"Danny Wilson knows I'm frustrated at Hartlepool. I'm not even getting a place on the bench.
"I could sit there and sulk and look like an idiot or I could come out on loan."
Casper said of his new recruit: "The young lads in the team give you everything.
"But sometimes you just need that bit of experience. Lee is just what we've needed."
