BURY go into the Carling Cup eyeing up a first-round upset after opponents Carlisle sacked manager Neil McDonald.

The Cumbrians sacked former Bolton first-team coach McDonald following Saturday's opening-day draw at Walsall.

Gregg Abbott has been put in temporary charge of Carlisle, as Bury aim to follow up Saturday's League Two win at MK Dons by defeating a side who are a division above them.

Bury boss Chris Casper said: "It's sad because all the managers are in this together and you don't like to see one of your own lose their job. But we want to keep our momentum going."

Andy Bishop, last Saturday's two-goal hero at Milton Keynes, faces a late fitness test.
