Bolton Wanderers

Preview: Bolton Wanderers v Manchester City

STEVE Howey, Bolton's recent signing from Leicester, will make his debut against his former Manchester City club-mates in Saturday's derby at the Reebok.

Howey, signed as cover during the January transfer window, comes in for Brazilian Emerson Thome, who is serving a one-match suspension for five bookings.

He followed Paul Dickov to Leicester last year after losing his first-team place 12 months ago following a home defeat by Arsenal.

Club captain Jay-Jay Okocha returns to training today after leading Nigeria to the semi-finals of the African Nations Cup in Tunisia.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce promised his midfield star a break after his exertions for Nigeria which won him the Player of the Tournament award.

Doubt

Allardyce told M.E.N. Sport: "We will assess Jay-Jay physically and mentally to see if he can be considered for the City game."

Bolton's only other major doubt is Greek midfielder Stelios, who is carrying a leg injury that stopped him playing for his country this week.

Allardyce added: "Stelios may not be fit, but he is the only doubt apart from our long-term injury victims, Florent Laville and Ricardo Gardner who have both cruciate ligament operations."

Last season: Bolton 2 Manchester City 0

Key Opponent: Robbie Fowler - forced to carry the goalscoring burden in Nicolas Anelka's absence.

Prediction: Bolton 1 Manchester City 1
