Cardiff boy Powell will never forget the day he agreed to join the Reebok club because he had just watched Wanderers clinch Premiership survival with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough.
He said: "It was certainly a great day for the club and a great day for me as well."
Powell, who is still 16, has also played for Wales at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
He has arrived at Bolton at the second time of asking after deciding that he wanted to pursue his career in England.
He said: "I've been playing for Leicester City but it didn't work out for me there and I had the chance to come up to Bolton.
"They were interested in me originally, along with a number of other clubs, but at that time I chose to go elsewhere. But they have come in for me again.
"I enjoyed it when I came up for a trial and decided this was the right club and the right move for me. I'm glad to be here."
Powell added: "I'm the kind of fullback who likes to get forward and put in some crosses. But I can defend as well."
