BRILLIANT Bolton secured their premiership status with an outstanding 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough at the Reebok stadium this afternoon.
First half goals from Per Frandsen and Jay-Jay Okocha ensured Sam Allardyce's side will still be in the top flight come next season.
Relegation would have cost the Reebok club in the region of '20m but in truth they never looked liked losing this ' despite seeing Boro pull one back form Bolton old boy Michael Ricketts midway through he second half.
Frandsen broke the deadlock when he dispossessed Jonathan greening after 10 minutes and let fly with a stunning 30-yard strike that left Mark Schwarzer no chance in the visitor's goal.
And then on 21 minutes Okocha, a bundle of tricks all afternoon, doubled the home side's advantage with a delightful free kick from just outside the box.
Ricketts, a second half substitute for the ineffective Massimo Maccarone, pulled a goal back for Boro in 62 mins but this was Bolton's day and nothing was going to spoil that.
And as news filtered in that West Ham had drawm 2-0, ecstatic fans rose to salute their heroes, in particular the retiring Gudni Bergsson who played his last game for the club.
What do you think of Bolton's victory? Can they build on the win for next season? Have your say.
