Bolton Wanderers 1 West Brom 1

BOLTON boss Sam Allardyce is ready to throw the clubs discilplinary book at his red-carded French defender Bruno N'Gotty.

Wanderers had to play for 70 minutes of their crucial basement dual with ten men and only snatched a totally deserved point with a rare Per Frandsen header two minutes from time.

N'Gotty appeared to be sent off by Leeds referee Mike Riley for elbowing West Brom danger man Jason Roberts in retaliation after being fowled.

Allardyce was reserving his final judgement until he had received the match video but warned that N'Gotty would be in deep trouble if it proved he was guilty.

The Bolton manager said: "From the angle on my monitor it wasn't conclusive that he had elbowed him in the face.

"I need to see the other angles to make absolutely sure but if he did do it, it was an extremely stupid thing to do."

Shock lead

N'Gotty's exit came three minutes after West Brom had taken the lead, Scott Dobie picking up a fortunate rebound off the defensive wall from a free kick by Sean Gregan.

It had been conceded by Ivan Campo, who was booked for a foul on danger man Roberts and the shot was one of only two on target by Albion in the whole match, the other being brilliantly saved by Jussi Jaaskelainen in the second half.

Bolton had to reorganise again after 25 minutes when Kevin Nolan replaced the injured Gareth Farrelly in midfield but the ten men stuck grimly to their job, taking an ever stronger grip as the game progressed with Jay-Jay Okocha providing much of the inspiration in midfield.

It seemed it wouldn't be Bolton's day when Michael Ricketts, a half time substitute for Dean Holdsworth, floated a superb cross over the Albion back line from deep on the right after an hour.

Stunning save

It put Youri Djorkaeff clear, but Albion keeper Russell Hoult made a stunning reflex save to block the Frenchman's close range shot.

But Bolton refused to give in and the equaliser they deserved came when substitute Simon Charlton crossed from the left and the ball took a deflection of Albions Igor Balis to fall perfectly for man of the match Frandsen to head in from six yards.

Allardyce added: "We could have gone under with the way our luck has been and I was absolutely delighted with the way everyone stuck to their task. We completely out played them in the second half and it was a moral victory."
