Wanderers 'run rule over Bulgarian keeper'

BOLTON are believed to be giving trials to Bulgarian Under-21 keeper Nikolai Mihailov.

The Levski Sofia shot-stopper is the son of former Reading goalkeeper Boris Mihailov but Wanderers have dismissed the link as "speculation."

However, it is thought club scouts have seen the 18-year-old in action several times this season.

Despite his age, Mihailov already has Champions League experience behind him albeit an unhappy one.

He conceded three first-half goals against Werder Bremen before being substituted with an own goal to his name.

Dad Boris represented Bulgaria at the 1994 World Cup in America and is his country's most capped player.

However, he is best known in Britain for allegedly wearing a wig!

Bolton already have three senior keepers on their books - Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ian Walker and Ali Al Habsi.

Desire

But manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed he would allow both Walker and Al Habsi to go out on loan.

Skipper Kevin Nolan has repeated his desire to stay at the Reebok after recent speculation linking him with a New Year move to Everton.

"The boss might be tempted to try to freshen things up - but there's little point in asking me for any inside info," says Nolan.

"Usually the players are the last people to know what's going on at a club - and that includes when the club want to sell you.

"I've no interest in wanting to leave Bolton. I love the club and the only way I would leave is if the club wanted to get rid of me.

"But players are employees and commodities that can be bought and sold.

WANDERERS will be part of FA Cup history if Doncaster win tonight's second round replay against Mansfield Town at Belle Vue.

The League One side will host the Reebok outfit on January 6 at their new 15,000 Keepmoat Stadium to be opened just six days earlier.

The Yorkshire club has confirmed Bolton will receive 3,000 tickets.

What do we need another keeper for? We already have 3 top class keepers in the squad.

I agree . . .
We do need quality players to make a European challenge, but it's hard to see this deal making any impact. Although it could be a deception to mask interest in another player. This transfer window, Allardyce has been far more secretive, and I think supporters will be surprised by some of the deals he does.
