Bolton's injury fears ease

BOLTON boss Sam Allardyce has received a double boost with news that Nicky Hunt and Quinton Fortune aren't as badly injured as first feared.

Both players have been dogged by injuries in recent seasons and Hunt looked to have sustained a serious knee injury in Bolton's friendly at Derby.

However, despite aggravating knee ligaments, the former England Under 21s defender could be available for Wanderers' season opener against Spurs on August 19.

"Initially there was grave concern that Nicky had sustained a nasty injury," confirmed Allardyce. "But he should be okay to return playing in two to three weeks."

Fortune came off at Pride Park with a groin problem but can resume training later this week. Abdoulaye Faye and Kevin Davies returned to training yesterday.

Wanderers have been linked with Italian defender Lorenzo Stovini - released by Lecce.

Meanwhile Birmingham have signed Radhi Jaidi in a deal worth a possible é2million.

Jaidi joined Bolton in July 2004 from Tunisian side Esperance.

How do you think the Bolton squad is shaping up for the new season? Have your say.

We are thin on the ground , Jaidi may have been a clummsy oaf at times , but we are short on centre half's . Not convinced at the moment , if we are weak at the back it could be a long hard season .
Still 19 years ago we were in the 4th division , i cant moan to much .

What a shock - a game & a half into his Bolton career & Fortune picks up a injury. Expect more of the same next season. I'll be surprised of he plays any more than 15 games this season

Well the signing of quinton fortune a decent player but can we really expect him to be a constant injury free player for a demanding season, I think not. Again a example of small minded Bolton come on expand your wings and get some quality exciting players , all in their twenties.

Sure glad we didn't the rag! He is completely rubbish. Good luck Bolton, you will need a good physio to keep him healthy.
