Bolton eye Sorin swoop

ARGENTINA captain Juan Pablo Sorin could be heading for the Premiership - with Bolton leading the chase for his signature.

Sorin helped Villarreal to the Champions League semi-finals last season and his country to the World Cup's last eight.

But the Spanish La Liga outfit have accepted that the 30-year-old is likely to move on after they were dumped out of the Intertoto Cup by little known Slovenian outfit MK Maribor.

Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce faces competition for a player who has seen service with River Plate, Brazilian side Cruzeiro, Lazio, Barcelona and Paris St Germain.

Inter Milan and Stuttgart are reported to be in the hunt for the long-haired star. So too are Spurs and Portsmouth, whose manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with even more players than Allardyce.

Reports

Bolton are insisting that reports claiming Sorin has already agreed a é2.5m move and a three-year Reebok contract are speculative.

"There are lots of players on Sam's list but we can't comment on all of them," said a Wanderers spokesman.

Sorin's arrival would Allardyce's search for a new left-back with Ricardo Gardner still recovering from his latest knee operation.

The Bolton boss is also hoping to conclude a deal with former Manchester United star Quinton Fortune in the next 24 hours. Despite appearing in Saturday's friendly at Burnley, the South Africa international still hadn't put pen to paper last night.

Allardyce has also been linked with Fenerbahce's former City striker Nicolas Anelka and Miran Burgic of NK Gorica.

Burgic, who played for the Slovenians in the Champions League against Linfield last week, would come cheaper than the moody Anelka.

Wanderers send a team to Ibrox today to play a `behind closed doors' friendly against Rangers.

The game should have taken place before an expected-20,000 crowd at the Reebok tonight, but was controversially called off last week on the advice of Greater Manchester Police.

What do you make of Bolton's transfer moves so far? Have your say.

Why do citeh finish below us every year .
After all you are such a massive club , so you keep telling everybody .
Sorin would be a decent signing as we really do need a class player at the back , since N'gotty has moved on .

Si Si Si, since when have Citeh been a bigger club than Bolton? You obviously have no knopwledge of the game. Bolton have a far bigger history than Citeh. For the last three seasons we have finished above you, last season we did you twice. As the old cliche goes, you're only as good as your last game mate. Your precious Citeh are well equiped this season for a good old relegation scrap. It's pretty bad when your biggest player is a 33 year old Andrew Cole!!

Lee,stop it,I thought for a minute you were serious!!So which period in "history" have Bolton been bigger than "citeh"(whatever that means?Thought that was a rag invention myself).Granted,in recent seasons Bolton have finished higher than City in the League, but by that definition Chelesa are a bigger club than Liverpool? We are a far bigger supported club than Bolton, holding the record provincial attendance for any club in England, over 84000.We are the ONLY team to win a European trophy with an all-English side, something unlikely to ever be repeated. We've won every major trophy in the game with the exception of the European cup-need I

Bolton are a bigger club than City currently as league form in recent years has proved. Granted City have a bigger fan base but Wanderers wipe the floor with them on the pitch.
