ANDREW Johnson might not get too many World Cup appearances this summer.
But the Crystal Palace and England striker is wanted by Bolton and ambitious Wigan.
Johnson, who netted 22 times in his one Premiership season campaign, certainly fits Sam Allardyce's new transfer target credentials of young and home grown.
But the Eagles' 25-year-old favourite would see Allardyce practically double the club's record fee of é3.5m paid for Dean Holdsworth in 1997.
The Bolton boss desperately needs at least one proven goal scorer if Wanderers are to get back into Europe.
And he's on record of saying he wants to lower the average age of his squad while signing domestic players if possible.
Bruno N'Gotty, one of the players released to make way for the younger generation, is reported to be interesting West Brom.
Former Wanderers team mate Jay Jay Okocha could finish his career in the Middle East though several Premiership sides are believed to have been tracking the Nigerian international who left the Reebok after a pay-cut row.
Meanwhile, the club has been linked with Everton's Dutch midfielder Andy van der Meyde who hasn't settled at Goodison since his é1.9m move last summer from Inter Milan.

Van der Meyde has failed in Series A and at Everton. Allardyce would be taking a chance with him, but at least the player's in his mid-twenties.
