Liverpool 1 Bolton Wanderers 0

A HEARTBREAK goal by substitute Igor Biscan five minutes from time gave lucky Liverpool three priceless points in the battle for European football next season.

Bolton were the better side for long periods and Liverpool had full back Steve Finnan to thank for goal line clearances in each half, first from Stelios and then from Kevin Davies.

Bolton had their worrying moments as Liverpool won a corner on the left.

The ball was cleared back to Djimi Traore on the left and his cross was headed in from close range by Biscan.

Bolton staged a grand slam finish in a bid for an equaliser when a scorching drive from Jay Jay Okocha flew over the bar.

But it was Liverpool who prevailed to go four points clear of Bolton and keep up the chase on Everton in the battle for a place in the Champions League.

What did you think of Bolton's performance? Have your say.

A cruel game. I nearly dropped my beer when Liverpool scored. I couldn't believe it! Bolton were much the better side, and dominated for long periods. We deserved at least a point. The most fortunate three points the scousers will get this season!
