Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers: season player ratings

Bolton reporter Trevor Baxter gives his verdict on the Trotters' performance in the 2009/10 season.

JUSSI JAASKELAINEN: The big Finn celebrated his testimonial year with customary consistency. Quitting international scene has been Finland's loss and Bolton's gain 7

GRETAR STEINSSON: Fans' favourite who was out of favour at the start of the season. No one tries harder 7

ZAT KNIGHT: Showed occasionally form that won him two England caps. But also prone to the odd blunder 6

GARY CAHILL: Bolton's prized asset. Glad to still be playing after career-threatening blood clot. Outstanding for first half of campaign 7

ANDY O'BRIEN: Third and sometimes fourth choice centre-half who may be looking for a new club this summer 6

SAM RICKETTS: Wanderers man for all positions. Played all along back line and in midfield for good of the team 7

PAUL ROBINSON: Whole-hearted trier who prospered with Wanderers' mid-season change of boss. Prone to conceding needless free-kicks 6

JLLOYD SAMUEL: Burned his bridges with Gary Megson after dressing room bust-up at Wolves 5

CHUNG-YONG LEE: A canny piece of business by Gary Megson and arguably Wanderers' most skilful player. Looked jaded at end 7

FABRICE MUAMBA: Most maddening player in Bolton squad. Energetic and so much potential but passing and shooting still need plenty of work 7

TAMIR COHEN: Lost his way in second half of season after some fine displays pre Owen Coyle. Chipped in with few vital goals 6

JACK WILSHERE: Belied his age and lack of stature since arrival on loan from Arsenal. Star quality written all over the teenage midfielder and a welcome asset 7

MATTY TAYLOR: One of the country's most prolific goal scoring midfielders over the past two seasons. But you always feel he can offer more next season 6

MARK DAVIES: Jury still out on ex Wolves prospect. Too many injuries and not enough games to prove what he can really do 5

SEAN DAVIS: Injury cut short his season after just four games following move from Pompey. Will be like a new signing next term 6

RICARDO GARDNER: Hampered by injury and struggled to hold down a regular place 6

KEVIN DAVIES: Finished as top scorer for second successive season; invaluable to Gary Megson and Owen Coyle 7

JOHAN ELMANDER: Massive underachiever in his two seasons at the Reebok. Likely to move 5

IVAN KLASNIC: Languid style guaranteed to frustrate but no better finisher at the club 7

Why was it not mentioned that BWFC couldn't keep a clean sheet when Gary Cahill was in the team? No mention of Steinsson being so far out of position in so many games.

And to say that Jussi played with customary consistency??? This has been his worst season in a Bolton shirt. He didn't command his box, made a number of poor mistakes and should have been dropped.

Why is it that when you make a comment on here that criticises the MEN and it's poor coverage of BWFC, it never appears.
