The Canadian team has confirmed they will play Wanderers in the annual Carlsberg Cup in Toronto on July 21.
"It is a treat for us to host founder members of the English League," said Toronto's senior director of business operations Paul Beirne.
Wanderers will travel to the States for a training camp as well as playing at least one fixture in Scotland before the start of next season.
Manager Owen Coyle has been linked with two new players - Burnley's Wade Elliott and Portsmouth defender Nadir Belhadj.
