Despite guiding Wanderers to Premier League safety, Coyle wants to freshen up his squad for next season.
And while many clubs will be viewing the talent on display in South Africa, the Trotters chief hopes to make his key signings in advance of the tournament.
“If there are players in the World Cup that we would like, and would serve us well then, if we've done our job properly, we will have signed them before they get to the tournament,” said Coyle.
“If they go to the World Cup and do well then those prices will be inflated.
“We have to put ourselves in a pecking order compared to some of the major forces in world football.
“I'm always a great believer with these major championships that if there is a player you want, then you do your business early.”
There have been reports suggesting as many as 10 players could leave the Reebok during the close season.
And while that's wide of the mark, there will be casualties in the Scot's rebuilding project.
“I'd be telling lies if I said I hadn't looked at anything,” said Coyle. “When I took this job I fully believed we would stay in the Premier League.
“I knew what we had and I'd like to think how capable we are, how we would go about it and what we would bring to the football club.
“There's no doubts we have had chats about taking the club forward but we couldn't put anything in place until such time as we were safe.
“We talk long into the night about players who can improve this football club.
“But there are a number of things that must come tofruition for that to happen – the player must be up for sale, the finances must be in place and he's got to want to come to you.
“Equally, if there are one or two players at my club who teams are courting, I don't want to lose anyone, I want to build.
“There might be one or two who would like another challenge. It's up to us to balance books as well.”
