Paul Robinson admits he 'dodged a bullet' when a possible move to crisis club Portsmouth fell through.

The Bolton left back was at West Brom when ex-Pompey boss Harry Redknapp tried to take him to Fratton Park.

But Robinson admits he had a lucky escape and is trying to help Wanderers collect three points against them to guarantee Premier League survival.

"When Harry was manager there, he tried to sign me when I was with West Brom," said the Trotters defender.

"He is not there anymore and being a massive Spurs fan, I am delighted he went to White Hart Lane and turned everything around.

"I did dodge a bullet by not going to Portsmouth because I still have a few friends down there.

"I grew up with Tommy Smith and played with him at Watford so it will be nice to catch up with him and to see how he is getting on.

"Hopefully, we will be on the winning side and I can rub it in a bit more."

Wanderers know three points against the FA Cup finalists will secure their top-flight status.
