A 1-0 victory over United at the Reebok was the last success and with Liverpool heading the Premier League at Christmas, it's a daunting challenge for Gary Megson's side.
Indeed, Bolton have been hammered on their previous two visits, conceding seven goals without reply. In fact, they've lost on their last six trips to Anfield.
"Hopefully we will go there with a game plan that will work this time," says former Liverpool trainee Nolan.
"In the last couple of seasons, it hasn't. But if we can match the performance we had against United at Old Trafford earlier this season, I am sure we will come away with a good result - albeit a referee not making a bad decision.
"Liverpool are a quality side and there will be a lot of pressure on them to perform. It's going to be tough for them and we are going there to fight.
"We will play for three points but will take a point and go for it against Wigan on the 28th."
Despite topping the table, Liverpool have struggled at home drawing against Stoke, West Ham, Fulham and Hull.
Nolan will be part of an unchanged team after a good win over Portsmouth last Saturday.
The long-serving midfielder has been touted as a possible transfer target for former boss Sam Allardyce. Nolan has refuted those claims but is pleased to see the Blackburn manager back in football.
"He is a great man and I'm delighted for him," he said.
"He gave me my debut and I hold a special thing for him.
"He deserves to be in the Premier League but I'm not sure why he went to Blackburn, mind you! What Newcastle did to him was very unfair."
Jamaican international Ricardo Gardner will also start ahead of Fabrice Muamba.
