Bolton held in Greece

BOLTON were denied a third successive pre-season victory when held to a draw by Aris Salonika in Greece on Monday night.

Gavin McCann's late strike appeared to have won a physical game for Gary Megson's side.

However, after Ali Al Habsi kept Wanderers in front, Spanish midfielder Javito equalised in the second minute of stoppage time.

The sides met in last season's UEFA Cup when Stelios's late goal earned a precious point towards qualification for the knockout stages.

And there was no love lost between the rivals.

Kevin Nolan was booked for dissent and also had a goal disallowed following a push by Kevin Davies.

After his two goals against Doncaster Rovers last Friday, record signing Johan Elmander didn't get a chance to add to his tally.

Unused

The Swedish international didn't figure in the squad while Fabrice Muamba was an unused substitute.

McCann, who played in the 2-0 win at Chorley last Saturday, scored after a Nolan header came back off the crossbar.

Wanderers complete their pre season preparations on Friday when they play AEK Athens.

The Trotters kick-off their Premier League campaign at home to Stoke City on August 16.

Indeed, Stoke and West Brom have been linked with Newcastle's unsettled former Bolton defender, Adoulaye Faye.

BOLTON: Al Habsi, Steinsson (Hunt, 45), Samuel, Nolan(c), Cahill, A O'Brien, Riga (Vaz Te 90), J O'Brien (Dzemaili 68), Davies (Obadeyi 58), McCann, Gardner; subs From: Bogdan, Meite, Cohen, Muamba, Taylor.

WANDERERS and Blackburn are believed to be showing interest in Birmingham midfielder Sebastien Larsson.
