BOLTON manager Gary Megson has appointed former Manchester City assistant boss Steve Wigley as head coach at the Reebok Stadium.

The former Nottingham Forest and Birmingham player will link up with Wanderers when he returns from a short family holiday.

Wigley, who also enjoyed a short spell as Southampton boss, will combine his duties at the Reebok Stadium with his role as coach with the England Under-21 set-up.

Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon star Simon Vukcevic claims Bolton are in talks to take him to the Reebok.

Vukcevic, who scored against Wanderers in last season's UEFA Cup, has been touted as a possible £5m signing.

And the Montenegro international insists: "Bolton people are in Lisbon for talks."

Megson has already spent £15m on striker Johan Elmander and midfielder Fabrice Muamba.

Wanderers have now been linked with Malaga midfielder, Antonio Hildago.

Meanwhile, Bolton full-back Gretar Steinsson hasn't been idle in his close season break. The former AZ Alkmaar defender has set-up a coaching school in his native Iceland.

"I set it up with some of my own ideas and some of the Bolton staff came over to provide the coaching," says Steinsson.

"It's something that I am really interested in and this year is the first year."
